Job Requirements

  • high school diploma required
  • prefer 1-3 years of successful experience in event planning
  • must be prepared to drive a golf cart occasionally
  • able to work outside in all seasons
  • able to do a large amount of walking, standing, lifting, and carrying of event materials, part-time availability including some weekends, holidays and evenings
  • able to work 24 hours per week on Wednesday, Saturday and a flexible third day
  • excellent communication and organizational skills
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma required
  • bachelor’s degree or a student working towards a degree in event management, marketing, communications or related field is desired
  • prefer 1-3 years of successful experience in event planning
  • marketing experience preferred
  • must be prepared to drive a golf cart, occasionally work outside in all seasons, do a large amount of walking, standing, lifting, and carrying of event materials

Job Duties

  • work with internal and external committees and volunteers
  • attend zoo events as event support or event lead
  • assist special events team on events to build zoo attendance and revenue
  • work independently and as part of a team to create exceptional guest experiences
  • work most events on calendar and take direction from event lead on those events where this position is not event lead
  • assist with researching new event ideas or enhancing current events
  • complete event team notes as applicable
  • provide reports in a timely manner on attendance, revenue, expenses and marketing efforts for each event
