Job Requirements
- Valid Colorado driver’s license with clean driving history
- ability to transport self to off-site locations
- ability to stand, walk, complete short hikes, sit, and occasionally lift or move up to 40 pounds

Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- bachelor’s degree in event management, non-profit management, public relations, marketing, business, public administration, or related field preferred
- minimum three years experience in mid to large scale public special event planning or community event management
- exceptional customer service and public relations skills
- ability to work with diverse populations and events
- proven ability to coordinate multiple vendors, contracts, volunteers, and assigned staff
- excellent written and verbal communication skills
- strong organizational skills
- proficiency in MS Office and social media applications
- ability to develop and administer event budgets
- knowledge of special events management principles and practices
- understanding of local community resources and materials required for staging events
- ability to work independently and as part of a team
- self-starter with proactive planning and leadership abilities
Job Duties
- Administering and facilitating the permitting process for community events
- ensuring events meet city goals and policies
- planning, organizing, and implementing city events
- coordinating with other city departments on event planning and execution
- securing necessary permits, venues, equipment, food/beverages, performers, and speakers
- ensuring compliance with city special event permitting process and standards
- applying emergency management best practices to support safe events
- collaborating with community partners to bolster economic vitality
- recruiting, directing, and supervising event volunteers
- managing financial and administrative operations of event programs
- leading the Special Event Review Committee including administrative support and member recruitment
- overseeing the Special Events Grant Program including application review and fund administration
- serving as liaison and resource for staff and community partners before, during, and after events
- maintaining an up-to-date community-wide event calendar to reduce conflicts
- guiding event organizers through the permit process
- conducting event evaluations and providing public transparency
- ensuring event holders follow city policies on signage, traffic, parking, trash disposal, liquor regulations, and impact mitigation
- attending community, association, committee, and city council meetings and making presentations as needed
- developing and monitoring event budgets and recommending permit fee structures
- assuming additional city event responsibilities as required
- performing other related duties as assigned
