Job Requirements

  • Successful completion of post-offer pre-employment drug and nicotine screen, TB test, and background check
  • Must work flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work long hours during event weeks
  • Ability to perform physical labor including standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 pounds
  • Valid driver's license and insurable to drive Zoo vehicle
  • Reliable transportation
  • Timely and reliable attendance and performance
  • High level of professionalism and proactive work approach

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, events, hospitality, or related field desired
  • Experience in events, hospitality, or attraction field preferred
  • Proficient in Windows-based software and applications
  • Familiarity with ticketing, CRM, database systems a plus
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Creativity in event design and problem-solving
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Zoo's Core Values and Mission
  • Positive attitude and growth mindset

Job Duties

  • Plan and execute events from start to finish to exceed visitor expectations
  • Assist the Special Events Manager with logistics for various Zoo events
  • Solicit in-kind donations to minimize event costs
  • Cultivate and maintain restaurant partnerships
  • Act as liaison between Event Team and volunteers/part-time staff
  • Support Development Department with shared events and on-site activations
  • Create detailed vendor schedules and agreements
  • Solicit entertainment and create vendor contracts
  • Ideate and plan new event concepts
  • Display excellent customer service supporting Zoo's visitor experience philosophy
  • Collaborate with multiple internal Zoo departments for event execution
  • Manage event timelines and problem-solve operational needs
  • Assist HR and Admin teams with internal employee events
  • Manage all inquiries to the Events email inbox
  • Perform administrative duties including finance, invoicing, budget tracking, purchasing, ticketing and signage
