Job Requirements
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
- Experience in event planning and coordination
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Preferably certified as Parks and Recreation Professional
- Experience supervising staff and volunteers
- Proficiency in relevant computer applications
Job Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of city and departmental practices and procedures
- Knowledge of public relations and advertising related to event programming
- Knowledge of community program operations and techniques
- Ability to supervise and schedule employees and volunteers effectively
- Ability to interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations, and policies
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to interact professionally and provide excellent customer service
- Experience preparing reports and managing budgets
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and event-related software
- Ability to work independently with discretion and punctuality
- Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) preferred
Job Duties
- Plans, coordinates, implements, promotes, oversees, and evaluates community special events
- Coordinates and corresponds with outside agencies and resources including the Convention of Visitors Bureau and Chamber of Commerce
- Supervises, trains, and provides guidance to assigned staff and volunteers, delegates assignments and monitors performance
- Selects and schedules vendors and oversees their work including entertainment for events
- Enforces and monitors adherence to safety rules and regulations
- Performs cost control initiatives and ensures activities are within budget
- Obtains donations and sponsorships
- Processes Special Event Permit applications and prepares staff reports for City Council approval
- Collaborates with communications and marketing for event promotion
- Participates in public forums and city meetings related to parks and recreation
- Coordinates set-up and take-down of event equipment and features
- Performs all other duties as assigned
