Job Requirements

  • Event coordination/planning experience desired
  • 1+ years of social media marketing preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in related field and valid lawful driver license for Coordinator I
  • 1 year of experience in recreational program management for Coordinator II
  • 3 years of experience in recreational program management and NRPA Parks and Recreation Professional Certificate for Coordinator III
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including holidays and weekends
  • Candidate must successfully pass drug screen and criminal background check
  • Must be able to handle public requests and complaints professionally

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • Experience in event coordination and planning
  • Minimum of 1 year of social media marketing experience preferred
  • Experience in recreational program management for higher coordinator levels
  • Valid lawful driver license
  • NRPA Parks and Recreation Professional Certificate for Coordinator III level
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Proficient in digital marketing and social media management

Job Duties

  • Coordinate a wide range of community and in house events for the Provo Recreation Center and Provo City including employee events and functions such as the New Year's Countdown, Pioneer Day Celebration, Halloween Carnival, Women's Day, Movies in the Park, and others
  • Develop registration forms, policies, and practices in collaboration with operations staff
  • Set dates, times, rules, and prices for community events and programs
  • Coordinate sponsorships with local businesses
  • Respond to citizens' needs, requests, and complaints
  • Coordinate with Purchasing Office to bid and order supplies and purchase program-specific materials in accordance with established budgets
  • Track expenses and assist in preparing budget and making recommendations for programs and materials
  • Coordinate photos, videos, and social media reels for events and programs
  • Post event notices and updates across multiple platforms including local partners
  • Create digital, print, and graphic materials aligned with brand guidelines ensuring consistency across all platforms
  • Develop and execute creative marketing campaigns to highlight programs and services
  • Manage and schedule social media content, track performance, and provide insights for improvement
  • Supervise part-time employees and volunteers working on events and programs
  • Assist in recruitment, evaluation, and training of staff and volunteers
  • Evaluate programs and provide feedback regarding participation and effectiveness
  • Find solutions and solve problems to improve the Recreation Division
  • Work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, extended workdays
  • Assist other staff and the public as needed and perform other related duties
