Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university with relevant concentration
  • Minimum five years of experience in event planning and marketing management
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with mass distribution methods via email and social media
  • Leadership experience with managing and motivating staff
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and perform under pressure
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • BASSET certification
  • CPR/AED certified or able to obtain within 30 days
  • Ability to remain stationary for long periods and perform repetitive hand/arm movements
  • Ability to occasionally move objects up to 50 lbs
  • Willingness to work in varying weather conditions outdoors
  • Commitment to safety guidelines

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, hospitality, marketing, communications, special event management, recreation administration or related field
  • Minimum five years of experience in marketing management, public and media relations, and event planning/management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with event and ticketing software
  • Knowledge of social media platforms
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends
  • Commitment to continuing education and professional development preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • BASSET certification
  • CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain within 30 days

Job Duties

  • Design, manage, and execute special events including event permitting, budgets, EMS plans, and on-site logistics
  • Maintain positive relationships and collaborate with community partners, entertainers, vendors, volunteers, city departments, and public agencies
  • Create sponsorship materials and secure sponsors for facilities and events
  • Coordinate promotion of special events and volunteer recruitment with special committees
  • Work with vendors on marketing and event materials, overseeing proofs, printing, and delivery
  • Represent and maintain professional relations with media
  • Distribute printed materials in a timely manner according to event timelines
  • Manage and record event revenue and expenses
  • Collaborate with other departments and divisions within the district
  • Maintain and update event materials and content on the website working closely with graphics and web staff
  • Hire, train, manage, lead, coach, schedule, and evaluate assigned staff to ensure operational efficiency and policy compliance
  • Provide high-quality customer service internally and externally
  • Follow district policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
  • Support the district’s mission, vision, and values
  • Strive for continuous improvement of systems and self
