Job Requirements
- Associate’s degree in event management, hospitality, parks and recreation, or related field or equivalent experience
- minimum two years related experience preferably in special event planning or hospitality
- proficiency in Microsoft Office software programs
- valid driver’s license
- ability to work nights and weekends
- demonstrated alignment with City of Plymouth’s CIVIC values
- strong planning, organizational and implementation skills

- bachelor’s degree in event management, hospitality, parks and recreation or related field preferred
- one year experience supervising or providing work direction to temporary or seasonal staff preferred
- experience with RecTrac software, AllSeated or other site facility software preferred
- experience working with basic audio-visual equipment for rental spaces preferred
Job Duties
- Plan, design, initiate and coordinate events and services that provide high quality opportunities for residents and visitors
- analyze and evaluate special events and recreational opportunities for the community
- develop event concepts, timelines, goals and themes, research locations and vendors
- create, manage and monitor event budgets to ensure cost-effectiveness
- source, negotiate contracts with and coordinate entertainers and other suppliers
- oversee venue setup, seating, parking, audiovisual, scheduling and on-site management during events
- create promotional materials, coordinate advertising, and handle publicity in collaboration with communications staff
- work with others to establish innovative partnerships, creative programs and entrepreneurial services
- coordinate and schedule programs and activities with other departments and community organizations
- work with staff and volunteers to maximize opportunities
- provide exceptional customer service
- interact professionally and foster open communication
- stay informed on city information, park and recreation programming issues
- make timely event operational decisions
- serve as liaison to establish community relations
- foster respectful workplace culture championing fairness, inclusion and belonging
- demonstrate understanding and respect for community diversity
- resolve customer concerns and recommend solutions
- participate in training for collaboration, communication, leadership, decision-making and problem solving
- manage all coordination and scheduling of the Hilde Performance Center
- process facility rental reservations, including scheduling and providing tours
- maintain and communicate rental policies and procedures
- meet with customers for event walk-throughs and contract management
- provide day-of event support and maintain compliance with rental rules
- work with communications on marketing and public relations initiatives
- maintain website and social media accounts
- coordinate and track event and rental survey data and recommend improvements
- develop opportunities to expand facility use
- support hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling and directing of seasonal and temporary staff
- recruit, schedule, train and supervise seasonal and temporary staff
- ensure preparations for activities and events are completed
- direct policy and procedure implementation to assure excellent customer service
- provide feedback for performance improvement
- keep key stakeholders informed on recreation programs and services
- act as city representative or liaison to community organizations
- attend and present at city council or advisory meetings
- perform other duties as assigned
