Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Recreation, Business, Public Administration or a related field
- Five years of experience in special event management, facility operations, or a related area, including supervisory responsibilities
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history
- Experience managing agreements, contracts, or facility rentals preferred
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

- Strong knowledge of event planning, facility management, and contract/agreements administration
- Ability to interpret and apply City policies, ordinances, and procedures
- Excellent organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with staff, vendors, officials, and the public
- Proficiency in budgeting, financial tracking, and cost analysis
- Ability to lead, supervise, and motivate staff, including managers and supervisors, in a collaborative environment
Job Duties
- Oversees the planning, organizing, and supervision of large-scale City events and permit related special events, including logistics, staffing, budgeting, and compliance with City codes and ordinances
- Oversees the management of facility agreements, including drafting, reviewing, and ensuring compliance with terms and conditions for facility rentals, leases, and partnerships
- Supervise the Special Event Manager and Facility Supervisor, providing guidance, training, performance evaluations, and support for operational and event management activities
- Coordinate scheduling, use, and maintenance of City facilities to maximize community benefit and revenue generation
- Serve as the primary liaison with community organizations, vendors, contractors, and partner agencies for special events and facility operations
- Prepare and monitor budgets related to special events and facility operations
- track revenues, expenditures, and cost recovery
- Oversees Parks and Recreation Department grants where appropriate and coordinates with multiple departments for their writing, tracking, and compliance
- Develop, implement, and oversee policies, procedures, and best practices related to event management, facility use, and customer service
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, risk management policies, and applicable laws/regulations
- Prepares and submits grant applications
- ensures compliance with reporting requirements
- Provide reports and presentations to City leadership, advisory boards, and community groups as needed
