Job Requirements
- None for education
- No experience required, six months experience as a PH with FedEx Ground preferred
- Ability to train multiple peer PHs simultaneously
- Ability to understand and follow instructions regarding work duties and safety methods
- Ability to discern numbers and information to sort packages correctly
- Ability to use basic tools and equipment such as skate wheel rollers, dock carts, handheld scanners, chutes and unloading devices
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment
- PHs operating switching equipment must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a Department of Transportation (DOT) file
- Willingness to work in hot and cold temperatures
- Ability to lift and carry between 10 and 50 pounds
- Ability to work in loud noise environments
- No travel required

Job Duties
- Train new PHs in unloading, loading, palletizing, carrying, smalls handling, SWAK, and non-conveyable package handling techniques
- Provide training to other PHs needing additional instruction on package handling techniques
- Provide feedback on proper package handling techniques
- Reinforce dock safety standards among peer PHs
- Demonstrate all necessary processes and procedures by example
- Update managers on conditions during the sort for operational efficiency
- Assist in implementing new package handling procedures and techniques
- Regularly load, unload, palletize, lift, carry, push and pull packages
- Utilize hand-to-surface methods for package handling
- Load and unload packages onto and from delivery vehicles, trailers, pallets, conveyor system carts and load gratings
- Lift, carry, push and pull packages continuously for 3-5 hour shifts with potential for multiple shifts
- Sort packages accurately by scanning, reading labels and charts, and verifying numbers
- Perform other duties as assigned
