Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • demonstrate proficiency in both the English and Spanish languages
  • familiarity with medical terminology preferred
  • previous interpretation or translation experience preferred
  • obtain Basic Life Support certification for Health Care Providers within 30 days of employment
  • successfully pass Spanish proficiency testing defined by Cook Children’s Health Care System before employment
  • ability to train at Fort Worth Medical Center for 4 to 6 weeks before starting at Prosper Medical Center

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • proficiency in English and Spanish
  • familiarity with medical terminology preferred
  • previous interpretation and translation experience preferred
  • ability to work flexible schedules as required
  • strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • BLS certification for health care providers required within 30 days of employment

Job Duties

  • Provide accurate and professional Spanish interpretation during face-to-face encounters
  • act as a language liaison between patients, guardians, and health care staff in support of medical plans
  • facilitate access to interpreter services for non-Spanish languages via phone or video remote interpreting
  • assist in emergency and inpatient care communications
  • maintain confidentiality and adhere to all relevant health care guidelines
  • participate in ongoing language proficiency and medical terminology development
  • complete all required training including BLS certification
