Job Requirements

  • Minimum two years cooking experience preferably within healthcare or hospitality field
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Serv-Safe Certification
  • Ability to communicate by speaking, seeing, and hearing
  • Professional and neat appearance
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Physical ability to perform kitchen tasks including lifting up to 40 pounds
  • Completion of drug testing and background check
  • Free of communicable disease
  • Adhere to all safety and company policies

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Preparing and overseeing daily meal production for residents with attention to nutrition, consistency, and presentation
  • Assisting in inventory and supply orders for food and kitchen essentials
  • Assisting the Executive Chef with menu planning, adapting to dietary needs and preferences
  • Assisting in writing and maintaining staff schedules across kitchen and dining areas
  • Coaching front-of-house staff during meal service times to deliver friendly, efficient, and fast service
  • Ensuring compliance with health codes, safety regulations, and allergy protocols
  • Supervising resident events and special meals, including holiday and themed dinners
  • Handling guest feedback with empathy and efficiency
  • Supporting day-to-day operations of the kitchen and dining room
  • Preparing and serving all food items using high quality ingredients and appropriate garnishes
  • Using recipes and correct portion sizes to provide a consistent product while controlling costs
  • Recording and monitoring food temperatures during storage, preparation, cooking, and serving
  • Labeling, dating, and properly storing all foods
  • Monitoring and recording temperatures of all kitchen refrigerators and freezers daily
  • Controlling overproduction and waste of all food items
  • Complying with all state and local rules and regulations for a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen
  • Washing and sanitizing food service equipment
  • General cleaning of cook's area, freezers, refrigerators, and storage areas
  • Following established safety procedures while operating kitchen equipment
  • Responsible for storage of items received from vendors
  • Checking inventory of needed supplies daily to ensure proper stock levels for preparation of menu items
  • Mopping and cleaning kitchen as needed
  • Removing garbage to dumpster as needed
  • Reporting equipment and safety issues to the Dining Services Director
  • Assuming all responsibility of the kitchen including ordering, menu writing, associate scheduling in the absence of Dining Services Director and/or Executive Chef
  • Working as a team member to maintain a pleasant and effective work environment
  • Performing other duties as assigned
