Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience in related field
- Minimum one year management experience in food service industry
- Must possess Washington State Food Handler’s Card
- ServSafe certification within three months of hire and maintain certification
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License
- Successful employment reference and education verification
- Ability to work varied shifts including weekends and special events
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, business administration or related field
- Minimum of one year of management experience in the food service industry
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytical, communication and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Project
- Experience in college or university food services (desired)
- Experience in high-volume production setting (desired)
Job Duties
- Collaborates with unit manager to implement goals and objectives
- Maintains department vision, values, and priorities for unit alignment
- Monitors attendance and adjusts staffing to meet production needs
- Directs food production and work assignments for kitchen staff
- Ensures compliance with contracts, policies and procedures
- Interviews and selects staff and ensures proper onboarding and training
- Leads production meetings
- Instructs staff on safe food handling
- Maintains visibility and accessibility with customers and staff
- Addresses employee performance using HR guidelines and union contracts
- Solicits and responds to customer feedback
- Demonstrates effective presentation skills
- Directs staff on operation policies and procedures
- Prepares and analyzes food costs
- Schedules employees for adequate staffing
- Ensures adherence to sanitation and safety programs
- Maintains inventory par levels and manages waste disposal
- Manages inventory from ordering to utilization and vendor relations
- Ensures cleanliness and health code compliance
- Conducts in-service training
- Introduces and evaluates new product lines
- Uses Online Accident Reporting System for work incidents
- Identifies and corrects unsafe conditions
- Monitors financial and production reports
- Collaborates with vendors to meet sales and service goals
- Ensures resource control in purchasing and inventory
- Monitors food preparation and event areas for quality
- Seeks quality improvements in recipes
- Designs and implements food presentation techniques
- Contributes to unit brand growth
- Creates published and custom menus
- Ensures accurate and current recipes
- Develops training and mentorship for culinary staff
- Designs quality control measures
- Supports recipe input and validation for CBORD FSS
- Supervises direct reports to ensure productivity and quality
- Provides guidance on learning and development
- Engages in performance management
- Conducts performance appraisals
- Approves time and leave for staff
- Supervises contract classified and student staff
- Supports CBORD FSS recipe process under executive chef direction
