Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent GED
- Minimum 3 years experience in a similar supervisory role in banquet, hotel or convention center setting
- State issued health certificate and up-to-date immunizations
- Serve Safe certification
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive hand movements
- Ability to lift, push, pull or carry heavy objects
- Must have a good sense of taste and smell
- Proficiency in MS Office software
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must maintain high levels of concentration and multitask effectively
- Knowledge of food safety standards and compliance
- Ability to train and mentor kitchen staff
- Decision-making and problem-solving skills
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent GED
- Minimum of 3 years in a similar position in an upscale banquet, hotel or convention center setting with prior supervisory experience
- State issued health certificate and immunizations
- Technical proficiency in food preparation methods
- Strong interpersonal, active listening and effective communication skills
- Ability to develop staff through training, motivation, coaching and counseling
- Ability to delegate responsibilities effectively
- Problem-solving skills and solid decision-making abilities
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a dynamic environment
- Self-directed and teamwork-oriented
- Flexible schedule with willingness to work nights, weekends and long hours
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive movements
- Serve Safe certified
- Proficiency in computer software including MS Word, Excel and Outlook
- Ability to supervise, coach and provide excellent customer service
- Knowledge of health and safety standards
- Ability to express ideas clearly and understand written information
- Awareness of cooking process events and high concentration
- Numerical skills including arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and statistics
Job Duties
- Supervises all line set-up, prep and breakdown activities
- Responsible for in-service delegation of tasks to line personnel
- Supervises all buffet, beverage, break, and carving table set-up and breakdown
- Assists Executive Chef with kitchen record keeping, food inventories, and ordering
- Organizes employee work schedules ensuring kitchen coverage
- Measures, mixes, and cooks ingredients according to recipes
- Maintains a clean kitchen and food production areas
- Provides ongoing assistance, training, and mentoring to kitchen staff
- Ensures quality, consistency, and compliance with food safety standards
- Monitors food preparation to meet recipe specifications, portion controls, and kitchen timings
- Guides, directs, and motivates kitchen employees
- Communicates with supervisors, peers, and subordinates
- Makes decisions and solves problems
- Documents personnel discipline information
- Works with Human Resources on personnel discipline
- Performs other duties as assigned by Executive Chef
