Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED
  • Minimum of 3 years in a similar supervisory role in upscale hospitality
  • State issued Health Certificate and up-to-date immunizations
  • Serve Safe certification
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights and weekends
  • Able to stand for long periods
  • Ability to lift, push, pull and carry heavy objects
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office software
  • Physical stamina for repetitive motions and bending
  • Positive attitude and ability to supervise and train staff
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and food safety standards

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED
  • Minimum of 3 years in a similar position in an upscale banquet, hotel or convention center setting with prior supervisory experience
  • State issued Health Certificate and immunizations required
  • Technical proficiency and verifiable knowledge of food preparation methods
  • Ability to positively interact and communicate effectively with diverse personalities
  • Ability to train, evaluate, motivate and counsel staff
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Detail-oriented with ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Self-directed and able to work in a team environment
  • Flexible availability including nights, weekends and long hours
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive motions
  • Serve Safe certification
  • Proficiency in computer software including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook

Job Duties

  • Supervises all line set-up, prep and breakdown activities
  • Responsible for in-service delegation of tasks to line personnel
  • Supervises all buffet, beverage, break, and carving table set-up and breakdown
  • Assists Executive Chef with kitchen record keeping and administrative requirements including food inventories and ordering
  • Organizes employee work schedules and ensures appropriate coverage for all kitchen areas
  • Measures, mixes and cooks ingredients according to recipes
  • Uses a variety of pots, pans, knives and other equipment to prepare and serve food
  • Maintains a clean kitchen with no food debris on surfaces at the end of the day
  • Provides ongoing assistance, training and mentoring to kitchen staff
  • Monitors production of food preparation ensuring recipe specifications, portion controls, and kitchen timings are met
  • Ensures that kitchen staff follow all food safety standards
  • Communicates with supervisors, peers and subordinates
  • Makes decisions and solves problems while organizing, planning and prioritizing work
  • Documents and records all personnel discipline information and works with Human Resources on discipline issues
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Chef
