Job Requirements

  • associates degree or culinary arts certification preferred
  • 1-3 years as chef or sous chef experience required
  • 7 years cooking experience required
  • supervisory experience in high volume or food production preferred
  • food safety knowledge including ServSafe
  • ability to stand and move for 10+ hour shifts
  • ability to lift over 25 pounds
  • ability to work rotating schedules over 55 hours per week
  • excellent written and oral communication skills
  • leadership and coaching capabilities
  • ability to comply with union/collective bargaining agreements
  • ability to complete mandatory training
  • strong problem resolution skills

Job Qualifications

  • associates degree or certification in culinary arts preferred
  • minimum 1-3 years experience as a chef or sous chef
  • minimum 7 years experience as a cook
  • previous supervisory experience in high volume food production or catering preferred
  • in-flight catering experience preferred
  • ability to cook according to detailed specifications
  • strong leadership skills
  • ability to work in fast-paced environment
  • ability to train employees
  • effective communication skills
  • time management and organizational skills
  • basic computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • servsafe certification preferred
  • ability to give constructive feedback
  • innovative and able to improve operations
  • bilingual in Spanish a plus

Job Duties

  • ensure food specifications and labor objectives meet company and customer requirements
  • supervise department for quality and quantity production and date items according to specification and coding system
  • maintain attendance records and manage shift scheduling
  • order raw materials and adjust meal production as needed
  • prepare daily production sheets and assign tasks to employees
  • train and monitor employees on proper procedures
  • ensure safety and cleanliness throughout shifts
  • manage daily hot and cold kitchen production for quality and consistency
  • ensure compliance with wage and hour policies including rest and meal breaks
  • coach and counsel employees following union agreements
  • review job titles and pay rates for accuracy
  • ensure completion of required company training including ServSafe
  • maintain compliance with company policies and procedures
