Job Requirements

  • Associates degree in culinary arts or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 1-3 years as a chef or sous chef
  • At least 7 years as a cook
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Ability to lead and manage a team
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations
  • Ability to work long hours and physically demanding shifts
  • ServSafe certification preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to travel up to 25 percent
  • Must be able to lift over 25 pounds
  • Comfortable working under pressure
  • Willingness to comply with company policies
  • Ability to train and develop staff
  • Experience with scheduling and labor management
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Commitment to food quality and safety

Job Qualifications

  • Associates degree in culinary arts or culinary arts certification preferred
  • Minimum 1-3 years experience as a chef or sous chef
  • Minimum 7 years experience as a cook
  • Previous supervisory experience in high-volume manufacturing, food production, restaurant or catering preferred
  • Experience in in-flight catering or high-volume food service preferred
  • Ability to cook meals to detailed specifications
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
  • Experience with labor relations a plus
  • Ability to train and provide feedback to employees
  • Excellent time management and multitasking abilities
  • Strong organizational, analytical, communication and leadership skills
  • Innovative mindset with ability to improve operations
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • ServSafe certification preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus

Job Duties

  • Ensure food specifications and labor objectives meet company and customer requirements
  • Supervise department for quality and quantity, ensuring items are produced and dated according to specifications and regulatory codes
  • Keep attendance records, set up paperwork, organize shifts and assign employees to sections for schedule optimization
  • Order raw materials and produce additional meals as needed
  • Prepare daily production sheets and assign tasks to employees
  • Train and provide recurrent training to employees on proper preparation procedures
  • Ensure safety procedures and cleanliness are maintained throughout shifts
  • Manage daily production in hot and cold kitchens for quality and consistency
  • Ensure compliance with wage hour policies, including rest and meal breaks
  • Monitor manpower planning and schedule employees
  • Coach, counsel, and prepare corrective actions for employees in compliance with union agreements
  • Review employee job titles, cost centers, and pay rates for accuracy
  • Complete company required training, including ServSafe
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures
  • Foster positive program change and innovation
  • Communicate effectively with employees at all levels
  • Promote employee retention and reduce turnover
  • Manage up to 40 direct reports
