Job Requirements

  • Five years of applicable foodservice experience with inventory and purchasing knowledge or associate’s degree in Culinary Arts or related field from a regionally accredited institution with two years of foodservice experience
  • Leadership and managerial abilities including excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Understanding and commitment to equal access and equal opportunity
  • American Culinary Federation certified or certifiable as a Certified Culinarian or higher (CC or CPC)
  • Commitment to the mission of a comprehensive two-year college and community development
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including nights and weekends to accommodate events
  • Ability to maintain multiple tasks and communicate effectively
  • Must have or obtain necessary health and food safety certifications
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Pass criminal background check, motor vehicle report check, and sex offender registry check
  • Ability to stand and walk frequently during work shifts
  • Ability to lift moderately heavy items as needed

  • Preferred American Culinary Federation certification as Certified Chef de Cuisine (CCC) or higher
  • Preferred ServSafe certification

Job Duties

  • Preparing and coordinating menus for daily food service at multiple campus locations and catering events
  • Maintain high standards of quality control, hygiene, and health and safety
  • Be available to work night and weekend shifts with a flexible schedule to accommodate events
  • Ensure correct setup of events and meetings including floor plans and staff preparation
  • Supervise and train kitchen team members on job duties including food presentation and service
  • Ensure high-quality food preparation according to recipes and efficient service to dining outlets
  • Write schedules, evaluate, and direct team members including work-study and practicum students
  • Maintain open verbal and written communication between management and team
  • Handle immediate kitchen problems and administer disciplinary actions if needed
  • Monitor and control food and labor costs for efficient service delivery
  • Complete weekly inventories and maintain compliance records
  • Order ingredients and supplies required for catering and daily operations
  • Maintain kitchen equipment and coordinate repairs promptly
  • Manage menu pricing and checkout procedures in POS systems
  • Collaborate with CAHMI faculty, staff, and students for special event catering
  • Maintain necessary certifications such as ServSafe Manager and American Culinary Federation credentials
  • Exhibit professional communication skills, organization, detail orientation, and flexibility
  • Coordinate with various departments to provide full-service hospitality and post-event cleaning
  • Assist Director of Campus Dining to promote CAHMI and UA-PTC’s reputation internally and externally
  • Promote University of Arkansas-Pulaski Technical College’s mission
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned
