Job Requirements

  • Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 75 pounds
  • Moving safely about the kitchen
  • Handling food, utensils, and products safely and effectively
  • Bending, stooping, standing, and kneeling as required
  • Withstanding potential temperature changes in the workspace
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Experience supervising kitchen staff in a high-volume kitchen

Job Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Culinary arts courses, certifications, or related degree preferred
  • Two to four years experience supervising or managing kitchen staff in a high-volume kitchen
  • Confidence in cooking skills and culinary abilities
  • Attention to detail
  • Good people management, communication, and listening skills
  • Proven ability to lead and communicate efficiently verbally and in writing
  • Flexibility and adaptability to change
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills
  • Internally motivated and passionate about teaching others
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Control the day-to-day culinary operations of the venue within company policies and guidelines
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and staff appearance according to professional standards
  • Keep updated and accurate costing and documentation of all dishes prepared and sold
  • Establish procedures and timeframes for conducting inventory and determine stock levels
  • Ensure security and proper storage of all food, beverages, inventory, and equipment
  • Maintain kitchen equipment in operational condition and cleanliness
  • Resolve employee conflicts, customer complaints, and stock order issues efficiently
  • Rally staff during busy shifts to ensure smooth operations
  • Interact with guests in a friendly and courteous manner to resolve service issues
  • Maintain consistent product and service standards of the highest quality
  • Control back of house food costs through ordering and inventory reviews
  • Communicate standards and cooking methods clearly to staff
  • Ensure a safe working environment to reduce risks
  • Maintain kitchen organization and cleanliness in compliance with health standards
  • Create and manage work schedules, shipments, and cleaning routines
  • Recruit, interview, hire, supervise, and motivate staff
  • Train employees on an ongoing basis
  • Lead by example and mentor new team members
