Job Requirements

  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English
  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Knowledge of all food stations in a kitchen environment
  • Ability to measure food items, cost food, place food orders and conduct assist with inventories as needed
  • Must possess basic computational ability
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Thorough working knowledge of hot and cold food preparation
  • Must be legally allowed to work in the United States
  • Be available to work a flexible work schedule, to include evenings, weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience in a kitchen environment
  • Knowledge of all food stations in a kitchen
  • Ability to measure food items and cost food
  • Experience placing food orders and assisting with inventory
  • Basic computational skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Knowledge of hot and cold food preparation techniques

Job Duties

  • Assign specific duties to kitchen employees for efficient operation
  • Visually inspect and select fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, fish, and other food products
  • Read and employ math skills for following recipes
  • Process requisitions for supplies
  • Select, train, and supervise kitchen staff in proper menu item preparation
  • Schedule culinary staff to ensure coverage and control payroll costs
  • Ensure proper receiving, storage, and rotation of food products according to health regulations
  • Adhere to control procedures for cost and quality
