Job Requirements

  • Certification and/or college degree in culinary arts preferred
  • minimum three years experience as a chef
  • maintains current food services sanitation certificate
  • ServeSafe certified
  • proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office and Sunrise applications
  • ability to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings
  • understanding of safety and hygiene standards
  • ability to lead and supervise kitchen staff

  • ability to maintain confidentiality
  • compliance with health and safety regulations

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Lead daily food production and preparation and ensure that all meals are made in accordance with Sunrise's quality standards
  • responsible for food presentation and ensure that each dish is high quality and visually appealing with creativity and proper plating
  • maintain attention to portion control and cost-effectiveness while adhering to budgeted per resident day
  • engage actively with residents during mealtime to gauge satisfaction and address concerns
  • provide leadership and fill in for the Executive Chef III when needed ensuring hygiene, sanitation, and presentation standards
  • support Executive Chef III in managing kitchen operations including staff oversight, inventory management, and supply ordering
  • collaborate with dining team to organize special events and banquets
  • adhere to product order guide and primary vendor program
  • monitor food quality achievement focusing on timing, cooking methods, plating, garnishing, and service delivery
  • ensure HACCP standards are maintained
  • oversee special events food production and marketing
  • assist in oversight of the Bistro
  • review food and equipment temperature recordings and ensure compliance
  • verify completion and filing of cleaning and side-work checklists
  • maintain food rotation (FIFO) and security
  • keep past production sheets and HACCP records
  • promote customer engagement and maintain presence in dining area
  • implement SkyActive strategies to enhance dining experiences
  • protect resident information confidentiality
  • partner with community team for occupational health and safety compliance
  • ensure safety procedures and proper use of PPE, MSDS, and Lockout Tagout
  • maintain healthful and safe work areas
  • practice safe food handling
  • assist in managing food costs, waste reduction, and labor management
  • provide guidance and mentoring to kitchen staff
  • foster culture of excellence and continuous improvement
  • participate in Sunrise University Training
  • ensure compliance with state/provincial regulations
  • lead team member engagement goals
  • maintain required training compliance
  • perform other assigned duties
