Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Four years experience in culinary, food and beverage, or related professional area
  • Or two-year degree from an accredited university in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major
  • Two years experience in culinary, food and beverage, or related professional area
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Knowledge of food handling and sanitation standards
  • Ability to manage kitchen operations and staff
  • Willingness to work full time at Marriott St. Louis Grand
  • Relocation assistance available

Job Qualifications

  • Or associate degree in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related field with two years relevant experience
  • Proven culinary skills and ability to manage kitchen operations

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage budgets and staffing effectively
  • Experience in supervising and training kitchen staff
  • Familiarity with Labor Management Systems

Job Duties

  • Assist in developing creative culinary applications and presentations
  • Support supervision of kitchen shift operations ensuring compliance with all food and beverage policies
  • Inform purchasing, receiving, and food storage standards
  • Ensure compliance with food handling and sanitation standards
  • Perform all duties of kitchen managers and associates as necessary
  • Estimate daily production needs and communicate them to kitchen staff
  • Assist Executive Chef with all kitchen operations
  • Recognize superior quality in products, presentations, and flavors
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations including OSHA and Health Department
  • Follow proper food handling and temperature protocols
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment and report malfunctions
  • Prepare and cook a variety of foods for daily service and special functions
  • Check quality of raw and cooked food products
  • Utilize interpersonal and communication skills to lead and influence team members
  • Encourage trust, respect, and cooperation within the kitchen team
  • Ensure associates understand kitchen goals and performance expectations
  • Establish open and collaborative relationships among team members
  • Administer property policies fairly and consistently
  • Communicate performance expectations and recognize successful outcomes
  • Lead shifts while personally preparing food items
  • Provide exceptional customer service to enhance guest satisfaction
  • Set a positive example for guest relations
  • Empower associates to deliver excellent customer experiences
  • Handle guest complaints professionally
  • Achieve and exceed departmental and budgetary goals
  • Train associates in safety procedures
  • Participate in operational meetings and communicate effectively
  • Analyze problems and choose effective solutions
