Job Description

Stanford University Athletics, in partnership with Levy Restaurants, is seeking a dedicated and passionate Sous Chef to join their culinary team. Job Requirements

  • Ability to remain seated for extended periods during administrative tasks
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods on event days
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
  • Schedule flexibility to attend and execute special events outside normal hours
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required

Job Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in a culinary leadership position
  • Culinary degree preferred
  • High level of computer literacy
  • Passion for hospitality, food, and retail
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills

Job Duties

  • Proactively coaching and motivating team members to deliver their best
  • Identifying opportunities and driving improvement in location operations
  • Monitoring quality and sanitation standards
  • Setting the standard for culinary excellence
  • Communicating and monitoring par levels
  • Supporting the creation of menu build diagrams and monitoring output
  • Ensuring adherence to routine kitchen management procedures including opening and closing checklists, cleaning schedules, temperature checks, waste sheets, and pest control
  • Creating menu specifications as needed
  • Setting standards for chef table setups
  • Creating prep sheets and line layout diagrams for consistent food production
  • Performing daily line checks to verify quality and flavor standards
  • Leading game day culinary operations
  • Delivering training and coaching to team members on menu and culinary skills
  • Supervising employee breaks ensuring team well-being
  • Conducting pre-shift meetings
  • Ensuring high standards in food ordering, delivery, prep, transportation, and service in line with Levy’s Core Signatures
  • Supporting other Levy locations as needed
  • Maintaining and updating recipes
  • Performing other duties as assigned
