Job Requirements

  • Two years of culinary experience
  • Proven leadership skills in a professional kitchen

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of related experience and/or training in food production
  • Previous experience in fine dining preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally in the residents' primary language
  • Ability to read and interpret documents including safety rules and procedure manuals
  • Ability to perform basic math operations
  • Ability to follow simple instructions and deal with standardized situations
  • Ability to interpret instructions furnished in various forms
  • Basic computer skills preferred
  • Interest in working with a senior population

Job Duties

  • Assist in leading daily kitchen operations, ensuring consistent quality, presentation, and flavor
  • Prepare fresh, vibrant, and flavorful meals thoughtfully designed for independent living seniors
  • Support menu execution, production planning, and special events
  • Help train, mentor, and inspire the culinary team to perform at their best
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen organization
  • Bring comfort and delight to residents through classic favorites and seasonal, creative dishes
  • Assist the Food & Beverage Director with meal/menu planning, supervise kitchen staff, maintain a well-stocked kitchen
  • Prepare all foods for breakfast, lunch, and dinner according to menu and standardized recipes
  • Maintain food recipes and sanitation principles
  • Cook foods including braising, soup stocks, blanching, roasting
  • Suggest menu or recipe changes to minimize waste
  • Ensure proper food preparation, portioning, and serving according to standards
  • Follow all food handling regulations
  • Communicate closely with wait staff, Dining Room Manager, and Chef to ensure satisfaction
  • Participate in feedback groups and new initiatives
  • Maintain cleanliness, hygiene and health standards
  • Cover kitchen management in absence of Food & Beverage Director
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
