Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum two years of culinary experience in a professional kitchen
- Ability to work weekends, holidays and various shifts as required
- Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations
- Ability to communicate in the primary language of the residents
- Dependable with good attendance and punctuality
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in hot and cold environments
- Willingness to work extended hours up to 16 hours per day when needed
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment
- Background checks and drug testing may be required
- Commitment to professional appearance and dress code
- Willingness to comply with OSHA and other workplace safety regulations
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years of related experience and/or training in food production
- Previous experience in fine dining preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to perform basic math operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out simple instructions
- Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
- Basic computer skills preferred
- Demonstrated interest in working with a senior population
Job Duties
- Assist in leading daily kitchen operations, ensuring consistent quality, presentation, and flavor
- Prepare fresh, vibrant, and flavorful meals thoughtfully designed for independent living seniors
- Support menu execution, production planning, and special events
- Help train, mentor, and inspire the culinary team to perform at their best
- Maintain high standards of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen organization
- Bring comfort and delight to residents through classic favorites and seasonal, creative dishes
- Prepare all foods according to menu and standardized recipes in a safe, efficient, and sanitary manner
- Maintain basic food recipes, preparation, service, and storage sanitation principles
- Cook food during preparation according to production forecasts
- Suggest menu or recipe changes to utilize leftovers and over-stocked items
- Ensure proper preparation, portioning and serving of foods
- Taste and prepare food to determine quality and palatability
- Communicate and work closely with service staff and Dining Room Manager to ensure resident satisfaction
- Support and participate in culinary feedback groups and new initiatives
- Cover kitchen management in absence of Food & Beverage Director
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
