Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- 3 to 5 years experience in professional kitchens
- minimum 1 year in a sous chef or leadership role
- culinary degree or certificate preferred
- prior experience in restaurant or hospitality industry
- ServSafe food and alcohol certification required
- effective communication skills
- good judgment and problem-solving ability
- ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive motions
- willingness to work approximately 50 hours per week including weekends
- legal eligibility to work in the United States
Job Qualifications
- 3 to 5 years experience in professional kitchens
- at least 1 year in a sous chef or similar leadership role
- culinary degree or certificate preferred
- high school diploma required
- prior restaurant or hospitality experience
- ServSafe food and alcohol certification
- strong leadership qualities including good listening skills and the ability to motivate others
- excellent guest service skills
- ability to understand guest needs
- proficiency in Microsoft Outlook including email, calendar, and task management
Job Duties
- manage and direct the work of heart of house team members
- hire, schedule, assign, and train kitchen staff
- coach, counsel, and discipline team members
- conduct regular meetings and training sessions
- perform performance reviews
- resolve team member complaints
- decide on termination and other disciplinary actions
- control inventory, variances, and ordering
- enforce company policies including food safety and sanitation
- address guest complaints professionally
- use company business systems effectively
- assign and approve work of cooks and HOH team members
- develop and mentor cooks and HOH staff
- determine appropriate staffing levels
- participate in interviewing and hiring
- handle discipline and performance management
- authorize and assign overtime
- ensure adherence to recipes and approved products
- make independent operational decisions
