Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in a professional kitchen environment
  • Ability to lead and supervise kitchen staff
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations
  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment operation
  • Strong communication skills
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts including weekends and holidays

  • ServSafe certified
  • Must read, write, and understand verbal instructions
  • Completion of sanitation course before or during first year
  • Knowledge of cost-effective kitchen programs
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic
  • Maintain emotional control under stress

  • Strong organizational skills

Job Duties

  • Oversee and support line cooks in synchronizing food procurement and preparation tasks, ensuring labor and cost control goals are met
  • Read and follow recipes to prepare and cook hot and cold food items
  • Ensure sufficient daily food prep to support smooth restaurant operations
  • Prepare and plate final food products with attractive presentation
  • Complete all food orders efficiently
  • Order and receive food products from vendors, checking items against invoices and logging receipts
  • Assist with inventory management, noting out of stock or low items
  • Maintain knowledge of culinary trends and integrate them where appropriate
  • Uphold food safety and kitchen sanitation standards
  • Organize stock rooms and walk-in refrigerators
  • Return food items to proper storage, covering and dating perishables
  • Train line cooks to enhance cooking skills
  • Schedule labor according to budget guidelines and update employee schedules
  • Work a flexible, rotational schedule including weekends and holidays
  • Maintain grooming and professionalism
  • Comply with safety, security, emergency, and energy policies
  • Report injuries and use PPE appropriately
  • Manage chemical storage and usage per safety guidelines
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned by upper management
