Job Requirements

  • Graduate of culinary school or recognized culinary apprentice program
  • valid Food Handler's Card
  • at least two years of experience in a production kitchen
  • SERVSAFE certification within 30 days of employment
  • ability to work a 7-day week with shifts up to 14 hours
  • ability to lift regularly and safely 50 pounds
  • adherence to safety sanitation and attendance policies
  • ability to maintain professional and positive workplace interactions

Job Qualifications

  • Graduate of culinary school or recognized culinary apprentice program
  • valid Food Handler's Card
  • SERVSAFE certification required within 30 days of employment
  • experience in production kitchen with varied dietary requirements preferred
  • knowledge of quantity food production and fine dining food preparation
  • familiarity with nutrition principles related to menu planning
  • ability to establish food production for modified diets
  • knowledge of high sanitary standards
  • ability to supervise and motivate staff
  • knowledge of inventory control purchasing receiving and storage procedures
  • ability to regularly and safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds

Job Duties

  • Train supervise and direct kitchen staff including bakers cooks and utility workers in meal preparation and service
  • establish workflows and assign daily work duties to staff
  • train employees in safe use maintenance and care of food production equipment
  • maintain a positive and professional work environment monitoring staff interactions and counsel as needed
  • supervise use of standardized recipes ensuring nutritional and attractive meals served on time
  • oversee production and delivery of food for special functions and employee meals
  • maintain kitchen operations and equipment cleanliness coordinating special cleaning assignments
  • coordinate menu changes with Executive Sous Chef or Executive Chef
  • maintain positive interactions with residents guests and employees
  • enforce infection control standards including hand washing and appropriate attire
  • comply with all Williamsburg Landing policies on dress conduct safety sanitation and attendance
  • evaluate work processes and recommend quality improvements
  • perform other duties as assigned
