Job Requirements
- Must be eighteen years of age
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Prefer six months of experience working as a cook in a restaurant or similar environment
- Able to safely operate standard cooking equipment and utensils
- Able to operate a personal computer and be proficient in MS Office programs
- Able to operate standard office equipment including fax, copier, and telephone
- Knowledge of or ability to learn the theory and practice of assisted living and dementia care
- Able to work patiently with seniors and cognitively impaired individuals
- Able to adapt and respond to change, make decisions in stressful situations, and prioritize tasks
- Able to follow written or oral instructions
- Must pass criminal background check and health screenings including physical and TB tests
- Willing to comply with COVID-19 safety protocols such as vaccination, daily screening, and PPE use

- Knowledge of or ability to learn assisted living and dementia care theory and practice
- Able to work patiently with seniors and cognitively impaired individuals
- Able to adapt to change, make decisions under stress, and prioritize tasks
- Able to follow written and oral instructions
- Able to pass criminal background check and health screenings including TB test
- Willing to comply with health and safety protocols including COVID-19 vaccination and PPE use
Job Duties
- Ensure the dining experience for residents, family members, and visitors is of high quality including menu selection, meal preparation, meal presentation, food taste, and service
- Assist with planning, preparation, and delivery of meals ensuring quality, palatability, and appeal
- Prepare and serve food according to sanitary regulations and property policies
- Develop and implement culinary procedures to ensure timely and properly temperatured food service
- Ensure menu plans are followed at all times and assist in determining food quality and quantity
- Maintain control over meal portions and food consistency while minimizing waste
- Act as Department Manager in the absence of the Culinary Services Director, managing staff and operations
- Assist in purchasing, inventory, and storage of food and supplies ensuring organized stock levels
- Maintain sanitary work environment and comply with all local codes for food handling and storage
- Inspect storage and utility areas for upkeep and supply control
- Order food within budget, maintain inventory records, and train staff on receiving proper food orders
- Regularly engage with residents to tailor the Culinary Services Program to their preferences
