Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Age over 18 years
- Background clearance as required by government regulations
- Current food handlers permit
- Minimum of two years' experience cooking
- Negative TB test results
- Excellent communication skills including ability to speak, write and read English
- Ability to operate computer, necessary software programs (word, email, excel), scanners, copiers, and fax machines
- Ability to be professional at all times with team members, residents, family members, and visitors
- Must be able to lift and push 50lbs
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout day and community
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of two years cooking experience
- Excellent communication skills including speaking, writing, and reading English
- Ability to operate computers and software such as word processing, email, and excel
- Food handlers permit
- Ability to maintain professionalism with residents, team members, family, and visitors
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and storage techniques
- Ability to supervise and mentor kitchen staff
Job Duties
- Arrive to work on time and prepare for your shift
- Maintain professional appearance and promote a positive and friendly teamwork attitude
- Prepare all food items in accordance with planned menus and recipes, delegating as appropriate to cooks and ensuring meals are appetizing, nutritional, and meet dietary requests
- Consult with Director of Dining Services on menu changes focusing on nutrition, seasonal preferences, budget constraints, and presentation
- Ensure all food is served at the correct temperature and charted appropriately
- Assist with purchasing food and supplies and maintain inventory records
- Record temperatures of refrigerators, freezers, and dishwashers
- Conduct quality assurance tests for food items ensuring proper portions and appealing presentation
- Conduct daily pre-meal meetings and expedite the Chef's line during peak hours
- Help supervise and assist other cooks, servers, and dishwashers
- Review and prepare upcoming menu items ensuring they are stocked and aligned to recipes
- Monitor team dynamic, inventory, safety, cleanliness, budget, and expenses
- Understand and enforce food safety procedures including cooking temperatures, sanitation, and storage
- Assist in food preparation for special meals and parties
- Follow community fire safety and infection control practices and report unsafe conditions
- Perform other assigned duties by the Director of Dining Services
