Job Requirements

  • Must be at least eighteen years of age
  • At least three years of experience in senior housing or related field preferred
  • Demonstrated skills, knowledge, and competency in leadership, training, and supervision
  • Proficient in written and oral communication
  • Formal culinary, food service or restaurant training or equivalent supervisory/management experience
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to send, receive, and forward email
  • Physically able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and stoop all day
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds
  • Comfortable being in close contact with extreme temperatures including cooking surfaces and walk-in freezers
  • Ability to work primarily indoors and occasionally outdoors for events
  • Must be criminally cleared

Job Qualifications

  • Completion of formal culinary, food service, or restaurant training or equivalent full-time supervisory or management-level experience
  • Demonstrated skills in leadership, training, and supervision
  • Proficient written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to create, modify, and print word processing and spreadsheet documents using Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience in senior housing or related field preferred but not required
  • Strong knowledge of culinary standards and food safety regulations

Job Duties

  • Ensure food items are prepared to culinary standards and provide residents with an exceptional dining experience while maintaining portion control and minimizing waste
  • Supervise and inspect all aspects of culinary service including logs, cooking equipment, storage rotation, and food service regularly to ensure cleanliness and sanitation
  • Lead the culinary team in day-to-day operations through engagement, maintaining expectations, coaching, and accountability
  • Oversee kitchen staff workload and scheduling to ensure efficiency and compliance with health codes
  • Manage inventory, order supplies, and ensure proper food storage to minimize waste and optimize quality
  • Train new and existing kitchen staff on culinary techniques, safety standards, and company policies
  • Collaborate with management to develop menus that meet nutritional and dietary needs of residents
