Job Requirements
- Must be at least eighteen years of age
- At least three years of experience in senior housing or related field preferred
- Demonstrated skills, knowledge, and competency in leadership, training, and supervision
- Proficient in written and oral communication
- Formal culinary, food service or restaurant training or equivalent supervisory/management experience
- Comfortable using Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to send, receive, and forward email
- Physically able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and stoop all day
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds
- Comfortable being in close contact with extreme temperatures including cooking surfaces and walk-in freezers
- Ability to work primarily indoors and occasionally outdoors for events
- Must be criminally cleared
Job Qualifications
- Completion of formal culinary, food service, or restaurant training or equivalent full-time supervisory or management-level experience
- Demonstrated skills in leadership, training, and supervision
- Proficient written and oral communication skills
- Ability to create, modify, and print word processing and spreadsheet documents using Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience in senior housing or related field preferred but not required
- Strong knowledge of culinary standards and food safety regulations
Job Duties
- Ensure food items are prepared to culinary standards and provide residents with an exceptional dining experience while maintaining portion control and minimizing waste
- Supervise and inspect all aspects of culinary service including logs, cooking equipment, storage rotation, and food service regularly to ensure cleanliness and sanitation
- Lead the culinary team in day-to-day operations through engagement, maintaining expectations, coaching, and accountability
- Oversee kitchen staff workload and scheduling to ensure efficiency and compliance with health codes
- Manage inventory, order supplies, and ensure proper food storage to minimize waste and optimize quality
- Train new and existing kitchen staff on culinary techniques, safety standards, and company policies
- Collaborate with management to develop menus that meet nutritional and dietary needs of residents
