Job Requirements

  • Ability to understand and follow instructions in English
  • ability to communicate effectively
  • perform simple arithmetic
  • understand measurements and conversions
  • ability to plan and organize work to interpret instructions, recipes, specifications, and standards
  • knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance
  • some knowledge of nutrition and diet
  • healthcare experience desirable
  • one-year prior experience as a Sous Chef preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Two to three years experience in a high-volume hotel, restaurant, or club with fine dining preferred
  • prior experience as a Sous Chef preferred
  • culinary education preferred
  • supervisory background preferred
  • knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance
  • understanding of nutrition and diet
  • excellent communication and team leadership skills
  • ability to plan and organize work effectively

Job Duties

  • Ensure adequate daily staffing and supervise the kitchen team
  • utilize leadership skills and motivation techniques to maximize team members
  • meet and exceed customer expectations by fostering teamwork
  • provide staff training to deliver value-added customer service
  • monitor industry trends and recommend operational improvements
  • inspect daily food venue setup and ensure food safety compliance
  • communicate operational issues and suggest improvements to Executive Chef
  • assist in budgetary and payroll controls
  • enforce safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards
  • plan, cost, and execute menus including buffets and specials
  • develop new recipes to exceed resident expectations while controlling costs
  • assist in catering and special functions execution
  • conduct quarterly food inventory
  • manage food orders and production documentation
  • ensure all plated dishes meet presentation, quality, and portion standards
  • train and mentor kitchen employees, leading by example
