Job Requirements
- Ability to understand and follow instructions in English
- ability to communicate effectively
- perform simple arithmetic
- understand measurements and conversions
- ability to plan and organize work to interpret instructions, recipes, specifications, and standards
- knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance
- some knowledge of nutrition and diet
- healthcare experience desirable
- one-year prior experience as a Sous Chef preferred
Job Qualifications
- Two to three years experience in a high-volume hotel, restaurant, or club with fine dining preferred
- prior experience as a Sous Chef preferred
- culinary education preferred
- supervisory background preferred
- knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance
- understanding of nutrition and diet
- excellent communication and team leadership skills
- ability to plan and organize work effectively
Job Duties
- Ensure adequate daily staffing and supervise the kitchen team
- utilize leadership skills and motivation techniques to maximize team members
- meet and exceed customer expectations by fostering teamwork
- provide staff training to deliver value-added customer service
- monitor industry trends and recommend operational improvements
- inspect daily food venue setup and ensure food safety compliance
- communicate operational issues and suggest improvements to Executive Chef
- assist in budgetary and payroll controls
- enforce safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards
- plan, cost, and execute menus including buffets and specials
- develop new recipes to exceed resident expectations while controlling costs
- assist in catering and special functions execution
- conduct quarterly food inventory
- manage food orders and production documentation
- ensure all plated dishes meet presentation, quality, and portion standards
- train and mentor kitchen employees, leading by example
