Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years experience in commercial cooking or culinary apprenticeship/certification
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations (HACCP)
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to manage budgets and control costs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related computer applications
  • Availability to work on-site near JFK International Airport
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and safety

Job Qualifications

  • 3-5 years experience in commercial cooking or completion of a culinary apprenticeship/certification
  • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations (HACCP)
  • Leadership, communication, and organizational abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Service-oriented, cost-conscious, and committed to quality
  • Understanding and demonstration of financial controls such as keeping food cost within budget, controlling stock levels, and minimizing waste
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer applications

Job Duties

  • Prepare and supervise the creation of high-quality airline meals in line with company standards, menus, and production schedules
  • Oversee kitchen staff in food preparation, storage, and inventory management
  • Conducts, coordinates, and supervises inventories
  • Step in for the Executive Chef during absences, including menu presentations and customer interactions
  • Monitor material consumption and place daily orders to meet production needs
  • Support menu development and participate in customer presentations
  • Maintain strict hygiene, health, and safety standards, ensuring full compliance with HACCP regulations
  • Conduct quality checks on incoming goods and finished products
  • Ensure adherence to recipe specifications and implement corrective actions when needed
  • Organize and direct your team to achieve operational goals
  • Coach, motivate, and develop kitchen staff in line with company values
  • Manage cost controls and budgets, taking corrective action when necessary
  • Champion company initiatives such as Global Quality Standards (GQS), HACCP, and Lean Manufacturing
