Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • ServSafe Food Handler certification
  • minimum 5 years experience in culinary roles
  • experience with high volume retail setting preferred
  • ability to plan and manage multiple recipes simultaneously
  • strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation
  • excellent communication skills
  • basic math and computer proficiency
  • ability to lead and train kitchen staff
  • compliance with safety regulations
  • positive interpersonal skills

Job Qualifications

  • knowledge of cooking techniques and cuisine types
  • menu planning experience for cafe, events, and catering

Job Duties

  • Train and manage kitchen personnel
  • assist in managing kitchen operations
  • coordinate interviewing, evaluations, and disciplinary actions
  • complete financial and productivity reporting
  • ensure compliance with food handling, sanitation, and cleanliness standards
  • cover for Executive Chef during absence
  • manage preparation of nutritious and delicious food
  • ensure adherence to HACCP and health department guidelines
  • maintain kitchen safety and hygiene
  • monitor and record food and equipment temperatures
  • store food and supplies properly
  • operate kitchen equipment
  • manage employee performance and coaching
  • ensure smooth shift operations
  • compose checklists and ensure task completion
  • specify and order food and supplies
  • approve prepared food items for quality
  • train team in food preparation techniques
  • utilize proper cooking methods
  • handle customer service and resolve issues
  • promote team atmosphere
  • solicit cultural needs and opinions
  • seek continuous improvement
  • monitor quality and take corrective actions
  • collaborate on menu development and recipe adherence
  • assist in budget development and compliance
  • monitor labor expenses
  • comply with Wellstar policies and code of conduct
  • perform other duties as assigned
