Job Requirements

  • Must have culinary education or relevant on-the-job training
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a high-volume cooking environment
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Must be able to perform reaching, stooping, and crouching motions
  • Dexterity for handling kitchen tools and utensils
  • Good visual abilities including depth perception
  • Must possess sense of smell and taste for food quality
  • Willingness to adhere to safety and hygiene policies
  • Able to wear required personal protective equipment including closed toe, non-canvas, non-skid shoes

Job Qualifications

  • Proficient in English language
  • Culinary education or equivalent on-the-job training
  • At least 3 years of high-volume cooking experience
  • In-depth knowledge of kitchen operations
  • Proficient with general computer skills
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Ability to consistently produce quality food in a timely manner
  • Self-starter with a problem-solving mindset
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus

Job Duties

  • Assist executive chef and manage kitchen in his or her absence
  • Support senior leadership by assuming key management responsibilities
  • Act as liaison between culinary division and other hotel departments
  • Supervise kitchen staff performance and ensure consistent quality of food preparation
  • Train cooks on recipes and methods to improve cuisine
  • Manage hiring, scheduling, payroll, training, coaching, and evaluating of kitchen employees
  • Monitor food production, ordering, cost, and quality to ensure financial performance
  • Review food cost reports with key staff
  • Prepare production lists and supervise food requisition to prevent waste
  • Troubleshoot kitchen issues and ensure hygiene and safety standards are met
  • Organize departmental meetings, training, and goal-setting
  • Provide leadership and foster a positive work environment
  • Maintain grooming standards and uniform compliance
