Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant culinary experience
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical activities
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Serv Safe Certification obtained within first available class following employment
  • Valid food handler card if required by state
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including availability for special events
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency with kitchen and inventory management software
  • Ability to maintain kitchen cleanliness and food safety standards
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to guide junior staff
  • Must comply with all scheduling and time management protocols

Job Qualifications

  • No prior experience or training required but 2 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedure manuals in English
  • Effective communication skills with customers and employees
  • Familiarity with compliance software, inventory management software, and Greek House Chefs App
  • Ability to wear chef coat and maintain professional appearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Serv Safe Certification
  • Valid food handler card if required by state
  • Ability to follow workplace safety procedures
  • Knowledge of food rotation and quality assurance practices
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize job duties
  • High energy and stamina
  • Ability to stay calm and efficient under stress

Job Duties

  • Ensures overall cleanliness of kitchens meets and exceeds health and equipment cleaning standards
  • Performs periodic and regular inspections of kitchen to observe quality of food preparation, food appearance, and sanitation
  • Leads kitchen team in chef's absence
  • Provides guidance to junior kitchen staff
  • Oversees and organizes kitchen stock and ingredients when executive chef isn't present
  • Ensures a first-in, first-out food rotation system and proper dating and organization of food products
  • Keeps service line prepped and stocked before and during prime hours
  • Assists with supervision of all food preparation and presentation
  • Works with head chef to maintain kitchen organization, staff ability, and training opportunities
  • Verifies food storage units meet standards and are well-managed
  • Assists executive chef with duties and tasks
  • Holds availability for up to 3 special events per semester
  • Maintains a pleasant appearance and wears a clean embroidered chef coat
  • Communicates client feedback to chef and management
  • Receives trucks and checks quantity and quality
  • Maintains professional relationships with vendors and clients
  • Abides by scheduling and time management protocols
  • Assists in monitoring staff scheduling and time management
  • Washes and cleans raw food products
  • Stocks and restocks items online
  • Transfers to other worksites as necessary
  • Performs other duties as assigned
