Job Requirements

  • No prior experience or training required
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant culinary experience preferred
  • ServSafe certification must be acquired immediately following employment and maintained
  • Valid food handler card if required by state law
  • Ability to stand and walk for over two-thirds of working time
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds under one-third of working time

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and manuals in English

  • Experience with compliance and inventory management software
  • Familiarity with Greek House Chefs App
  • Skilled in use of commercial kitchen equipment including blenders, broilers, convection ovens, knives, deep fryers, and slicers
  • Strong coordination and monitoring abilities
  • Active listening and critical thinking skills
  • Good judgment and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to evaluate quality and quantity of food items
  • Knowledge of workplace safety procedures
  • High energy and stamina
  • Ability to stay calm and efficient under pressure
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills

Job Duties

  • Ensure overall cleanliness of kitchens meets and exceeds health and equipment cleaning standards
  • Perform periodic inspections of kitchen to observe food quality, appearance, and sanitation
  • Lead kitchen team in absence of Executive Chef
  • Provide guidance to junior kitchen staff
  • Oversee and organize kitchen stock and ingredients
  • Ensure first-in, first-out food rotation system with proper dating
  • Keep service line prepped and stocked during prime hours
  • Assist with supervising food preparation and presentation
  • Maintain kitchen organization, staff training, and development
  • Verify proper management of food storage units
  • Assist Executive Chef with any duties
  • Attend up to 3 special events per semester
  • Maintain professional appearance and wear chef coat
  • Communicate client feedback to management
  • Receive and inspect food deliveries
  • Maintain professional relationships with vendors and clients
  • Follow scheduling and time management protocols
  • Monitor scheduling and time management of kitchen staff
  • Wash and clean raw food products
  • Stock and restock items as specified
  • Transfer to other worksites as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
