Job Requirements

  • No prior experience or training required
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant culinary experience
  • Food safety certification such as ServSafe within first available class
  • Valid food handler's card if required
  • Ability to stand for over two-thirds of the time
  • Ability to walk for over two-thirds of the time
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds for less than one-third of the time
  • Availability for up to 3 special events per semester
  • Dependability and responsibility
  • Maintain professional appearance and hygiene
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Good communication skills
  • Knowledge of inventory and kitchen management systems
  • Ability to follow health and safety standards

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals in English

  • Familiarity with compliance software
  • Experienced in inventory management software
  • Knowledgeable in Greek House Chefs App
  • Proficient in using commercial blenders, broilers, convection ovens, cutlery, deep fryers, and mandolin slicers
  • Strong coordination and monitoring skills
  • Active listening capability
  • Critical thinking and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to judge quality and quantity of raw and cooked items
  • Knowledge of workplace safety procedures
  • High energy and stamina
  • Ability to stay calm and work efficiently under pressure
  • Effective time management and job prioritization skills

Job Duties

  • Ensures the overall cleanliness of kitchens meets and exceeds health and equipment cleaning standards
  • Performs periodic inspections of kitchen to monitor food preparation quality and service cleanliness
  • Leads kitchen team in Executive Chef's absence
  • Provides guidance to junior kitchen staff members
  • Oversees and organizes kitchen stock and ingredients when Executive Chef isn't present
  • Ensures first-in, first-out food rotation and proper food dating for quality assurance
  • Keeps service line prepped and stocked during prime operation hours
  • Assists with supervising food preparation and presentation to meet quality and standards
  • Collaborates with Executive Chef to maintain kitchen organization, staff capability, and training
  • Verifies food storage units meet standards and are well-managed
  • Assists Executive Chef with assigned duties and tasks
  • Holds availability for up to three special events per semester
  • Maintains professional appearance and kitchen attire
  • Communicates client feedback to chef and management
  • Receives and inspects deliveries for quantity and quality
  • Maintains professional relationships with vendors and clients
  • Adheres to scheduling and time management protocols
  • Assists in monitoring staff scheduling
  • Washes and cleans raw food products following proper rotation and hold times
  • Stocks and restocks items according to specifications
  • Transfers to other worksites as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned
