Job Requirements

  • Culinary Arts degree or equivalent
  • At least 2 years of professional kitchen experience
  • Experience managing a specific kitchen section
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to mentor junior staff
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, holidays
  • ServSafe Certification within 12 months of hire
  • AllerTrain Certification within 12 months of hire

Job Qualifications

  • Culinary Arts degree or equivalent professional culinary training
  • Minimum of 2 years professional kitchen experience
  • Experience as Chef de Partie or similar role preferred
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
  • Experience managing a kitchen section such as grill, pastry, or sauces
  • Ability to maintain high-quality standards efficiently
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to mentor and train diverse junior kitchen staff
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • ServSafe Certification within 12 months of hire
  • AllerTrain Certification within 12 months of hire

Job Duties

  • Manages the daily operations of a designated section of the kitchen
  • Prepares, cooks, and presents dishes in accordance with university dining standards and menus
  • Maintains organization and cleanliness of assigned section
  • Assists the team in menu planning and creation of new dishes
  • Prepares ingredients, sauces, and dishes according to recipes and menus
  • Monitors food stock and ensures timely production during peak hours
  • Works collaboratively with leadership and mentors junior kitchen staff
  • Adheres to all food safety standards and sanitation procedures
  • Monitors inventory and communicates supply needs
  • Ensures dishes meet standards for taste, presentation, and nutrition
  • Addresses customer feedback and dietary needs
  • Stays updated with culinary trends
  • Performs other duties as assigned
