Job Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • culinary degree preferred or equivalent experience as a sous chef
  • minimum of three years restaurant, senior living, or equivalent cooking experience
  • flexibility to work from 11am or noon to 8:30pm
  • availability to work weekends
  • strong organizational and leadership skills
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards

Job Duties

  • Assist in overall coordination of food preparation and presentation
  • forecast labor and supplies following the Food & Beverage budget
  • interview, train, schedule, and supervise kitchen staff to ensure proper food preparation
  • ensure sanitary handling, preparation, and storage of food and proper use and care of equipment
  • assist with receiving and storage of foods and nonfood supplies
  • maintain community standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and operational organization
  • adhere to food quality, appearance, and presentation standards
  • produce and serve menu cycle programs compliant with nutritional and dietary criteria
  • exhibit cooking standards of speed, accuracy, and efficiency
  • oversee work assignments for kitchen personnel and assign special jobs
  • assist in preparation of daily production sheets and forecast supply needs
  • plan food production to coordinate with meal service hours
  • demonstrate knowledge in cooking preparation and production
  • assist with serving meals and ware washing
  • visit residents to evaluate food service quality and conduct evaluations to improve operations
  • represent the community in a warm and inviting manner
  • support business decisions that drive revenue and occupancy
