Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 4 years of experience in culinary or related professional area
  • OR 2-year degree in culinary arts, hotel and restaurant management, or related major
  • 2 years of relevant professional culinary experience
  • Ability to work full-time in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Ability to manage and train staff effectively
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 4 years of culinary, food and beverage, or related professional experience
  • OR 2-year degree from an accredited university in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major with 2 years of relevant experience
  • Proven culinary skills with knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and safety standards
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to develop and mentor kitchen staff
  • Experience managing food production and kitchen operations
  • Knowledge of budgeting and labor management systems
  • Ability to deliver excellent customer service and handle guest interactions professionally

Job Duties

  • Manages kitchen shift operations and ensures compliance with food and beverage policies, standards and procedures
  • Estimates daily production needs on a weekly basis and communicates production needs to kitchen personnel daily
  • Assists Executive Chef with all kitchen operations and preparation
  • Prepares and cooks foods of all types for regular service or special functions
  • Develops, designs, or creates new culinary applications, ideas, systems, or products including artistic contributions
  • Maintains purchasing, receiving and food storage standards
  • Ensures compliance with food handling and sanitation standards
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of cooks and workers engaged in food preparation
  • Leads shifts while personally preparing food items and executing requests based on required specifications
  • Utilizes interpersonal and communication skills to lead and encourage others, demonstrating honesty and integrity
  • Provides services above and beyond for customer satisfaction and retention
  • Manages day-to-day kitchen operations ensuring quality and customer expectations are met
  • Interacts with guests to obtain feedback and handle complaints
  • Achieves and exceeds goals including performance, budget, and team goals
  • Trains employees in safety procedures
  • Identifies developmental needs of staff and provides coaching or mentoring
  • Communicates with supervisors, coworkers, and subordinates effectively
  • Attends and participates in meetings relevant to kitchen operations
  • Analyzes information and evaluates results to solve problems effectively
