Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- completion of two years formal training in food service or restaurant management or related area
- minimum of seven years combined experience in specialty cooking and chef supervision
- must acquire Ohio Department of Health Level Two certification in Food Protection during probationary period
- ability to stand continuously for extended periods
- ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- ability to work varied hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- pass a security check
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent plus completion of two years formal training in food service or restaurant management
- minimum of three years specialty cooking including two years commercial cooking experience
- minimum of four years chef experience as lead or supervisor
- knowledge of culinary terminology
- knowledge of food cost management techniques
- interpersonal communication skills
- culinary techniques including hot and cold food preparation
- artistic food design skills
- menu development and cost analysis skills
- ability to train and provide effective work direction
- ability to manage time and set priorities
- ability to carry out or assist in implementing changes
- ability to operate kitchen equipment
- ability to accurately follow recipes
- ability to read, write, and follow instructions

Job Duties
- Designs, prepares, and directs preparation of all foods including specialty and decorated items
- supervises cooks, food service workers, classified staff, and student employees
- trains and instructs employees on food preparation and cooking
- assigns and monitors work activities
- coordinates workflow and scheduling
- participates in interviewing and performance evaluations
- functions as a member of the management team
- independently performs specialty cooking
- plans menu for daily specials and special events
- maintains inventory of food products and kitchen supplies
- inspects food quality and quantity
- initiates repair and purchase of equipment
- samples food and equipment from vendors
- oversees cleanliness and sanitation according to health regulations
- operates computer for orders and correspondence
- performs related duties as required
