Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum of 3 years experience in a professional kitchen environment
  • knowledge of menu planning and food preparation
  • ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • strong organizational skills
  • ability to lead and motivate kitchen staff
  • physical capability to perform kitchen duties
  • food safety certification
  • excellent communication skills

Job Qualifications

  • previous experience as a sous chef or similar role
  • strong leadership and communication skills
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations

Job Duties

  • assist in planning and developing menus and recipes
  • prepare or supervise kitchen staff in daily preparation of soups, sauces, and specials
  • control labor and operating expenses through scheduling and budgeting
  • prepare reports and cost menus
  • ensure compliance with sanitation standards and cleanliness
  • monitor food shipments and maintain portion consistency
  • communicate with employees and managers to meet operational needs
  • coordinate menu tastings and pre-meal meetings
  • interact with guests to ensure satisfaction
  • supervise and train employees
  • maintain staffing and cost control
  • work harmoniously with co-workers and assume full charge in absence of executive chef
  • monitor kitchen employees time cards
  • prepare food items
  • assist with setup and cleaning
  • maintain security of kitchen equipment and inventory
  • expedite food orders during peak hours
  • coordinate buffet presentations
  • work in any station as assigned
  • consult with dining service personnel
  • recommend maintenance and repair of kitchen and equipment
  • perform other duties as assigned
