Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of related experience
  • Ability to work day and night shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Knowledge of health and safety food storage requirements
  • Ability to maintain staff hygiene standards
  • Ability to follow and enforce HACCP guidelines

  • Ability to follow complex recipes and culinary techniques
  • Experience training and supervising kitchen staff
  • Understanding of inventory control and purchasing processes

Job Duties

  • Follow complex recipes for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, serving soups, meats, and vegetables
  • Ensure that the storage of food meets company and health and safety requirements
  • Ensure that staff is in proper uniform and personal hygiene requirements are met
  • Clean and sanitize workstations
  • Assist with pricing of special menu items
  • Provide guidance, resources, and knowledge on culinary trends for growth of the department
  • Independently perform advanced cooking duties in preparing food items for customers under minimal supervision
  • May serve customers at a station in the café
  • Assist leadership with the creation and preparation of specialty menu items
  • Assist production team in daily tasks as needed
  • Train new and existing kitchen team members on the preparation, arrangement and plating of dishes per the current menu
  • Train production cooks on special item preparation
  • Structure the day to day operations of the food production and assist in the supervision of the staff
  • Serve as a liaison with leadership
  • Ensure that stock rotation is followed and all storerooms, refrigerated items and freezers are in order
  • Ensure that all production food items in coolers and freezers, as well as dry goods, are labeled and dated correctly
  • Ensure all recipes are followed and quality is consistent and HACCP guidelines are followed
