Job Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of high-volume professional cooking experience
  • ability to demonstrate proficiency in professional knife handling
  • must pass Cook I screening test
  • reliable transportation
  • ability to work mandatory overtime as required
  • able to stand and walk for 8 hours
  • ability to lift and move items up to 50 pounds
  • ability to speak, read, and write English
  • maintain professional appearance and hygiene
  • ability to work independently and in a team
  • ability to prioritize and execute tasks accurately and efficiently

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of high-volume professional cooking experience
  • proficiency in thickening techniques, soup and sauce preparation, sauté, stir fry, pan frying, deep frying, grilling, broiling, roasting, steaming, braising and stewing, cold food production, and food presentation
  • knowledge of kitchen equipment such as grills, deep fat fryers, and alto shams
  • professional knife handling skills
  • experience directing support staff
  • ability to maintain kitchen workstations
  • ability to maintain production and usage records
  • skilled in safe food handling and sanitation techniques
  • ability to follow recipes and prioritize tasks
  • strong customer service skills
  • ability to communicate in English effectively
  • accurate math skills
  • ability to maintain professional appearance and hygiene

Job Duties

  • Prepare high volume food following established recipes and production systems
  • butcher, trim, season, and grill special cuts of meat
  • communicate with production manager on pars, recipes, and kitchen progress
  • maintain production and usage records
  • uphold high sanitary, hygienic, and safety standards
  • direct work assignments and train support staff and student workers
  • perform general cleaning and other food service duties as requested
