Job Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Culinary degree preferred
  • Minimum of three years restaurant, senior living or equivalent cooking experience
  • Must hold current state-required sanitation certification or license
  • Ability to speak, read and comprehend the English language
  • Knowledge in menu presentation, food preparation, production, food delivery systems, and utility
  • Knowledge of local Health Department, OSHA and other regulatory agencies relevant to culinary services
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Good inter-departmental communication and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to be available for any emergencies regarding the community
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite products
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs with assistance occasionally
  • Ability to climb, reach, bend, twist occasionally
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk frequently
  • Ability to handle food frequently
  • Ability to process printed information and recognize auditory signals
  • Ability to interact professionally with individuals who may be challenging
  • Ability to control own emotions and behave professionally

Job Duties

  • Maintain a level head under pressure and fully utilize staff to deliver quality food consistently
  • Assign detailed specific duties to kitchen team members for efficient operation
  • Ensure deliveries are properly received, dated, rotated, and stored correctly
  • Supervise kitchen team members and enforce sanitation and safety standards
  • Ensure proper preparation, portioning, and serving of food according to standardized recipes
  • Assist with setup, service, and cleanup of food production
  • Assist with safety and training procedures in handling foodservice equipment
  • Communicate effectively with other departments and staff for daily service execution
  • Evaluate food service quality, quantity, temperature, and appearance and make operational revisions
  • Represent the community warmly to create a positive marketing environment
  • Support a culture driving top-line revenue and occupancy through business decisions and employee engagement
  • Adapt to a constantly changing environment
  • Meet with Executive Chef or Director of Culinary Creations as needed
  • Attend all in-service training workshops requested by management
  • Act as part of the Culinary Services team, lending help as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident and community information
  • Observe all community policies and procedures
  • Cooperate with assigned duties and professional feedback
  • Perform incidental housekeeping and maintenance tasks
  • Perform other duties as assigned timely and professionally
