Job Requirements
- Minimum of a two-year degree in culinary arts or related field
- at least one year prior experience in a food service department required
- supervisory experience desirable
- must have compassion for and desire to work with the elderly recognizing the community as residents' home
- ability to work responsibly as a team leader, member and as well as an individual
- honesty, fairness, dependability, respect for confidentiality and residents' rights
- effective communication with residents, families, staff, vendors and the public
- ability to control labor cost, linen cost, miscellaneous food and beverage expenses
- meet all health requirements
- pass criminal background check
- ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
- ServSafe certification as applicable
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of a two-year degree in culinary arts or related field preferred
- at least five years of Sous Chef experience
- supervisory experience desirable
- ServSafe certification required
- strong knowledge of food storage procedures and safety
- effective communication skills with residents, families, staff, vendors and the general public
- ability to work responsibly as a team leader, member and individually
- compassionate attitude toward serving the elderly community
- honest, fair and dependable character
- ability to control labor costs and food and beverage expenses
- ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
- ability to meet all health requirements
- pass criminal background check
Job Duties
- Preparing meals and food to meet the specifications of guests in a timely manner
- properly measuring kitchen ingredients and food portions
- ensuring kitchen staff adhere to set standards, procedures, department rules and sanitation requirements
- using kitchen knives and equipment such as grills, ovens, steamers and warmers in food preparation
- managing the kitchen inventory and ensuring supplies are fresh and of high quality
- ensuring proper food temperatures when cooking and proper storage afterward
- keeping the workstation and kitchen equipment clean, organized and sanitized
- taking charge of kitchen opening, closing and other side duties as directed by the Executive Chef
