Job Requirements

  • Minimum of a two-year degree in culinary arts or related field
  • at least one year prior experience in a food service department required
  • supervisory experience desirable
  • must have compassion for and desire to work with the elderly recognizing the community as residents' home
  • ability to work responsibly as a team leader, member and as well as an individual
  • honesty, fairness, dependability, respect for confidentiality and residents' rights
  • effective communication with residents, families, staff, vendors and the public
  • ability to control labor cost, linen cost, miscellaneous food and beverage expenses
  • meet all health requirements
  • pass criminal background check
  • ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
  • ServSafe certification as applicable

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of a two-year degree in culinary arts or related field preferred
  • at least five years of Sous Chef experience
  • supervisory experience desirable
  • ServSafe certification required
  • strong knowledge of food storage procedures and safety
  • effective communication skills with residents, families, staff, vendors and the general public
  • ability to work responsibly as a team leader, member and individually
  • compassionate attitude toward serving the elderly community

  • ability to control labor costs and food and beverage expenses

Job Duties

  • Preparing meals and food to meet the specifications of guests in a timely manner
  • properly measuring kitchen ingredients and food portions
  • ensuring kitchen staff adhere to set standards, procedures, department rules and sanitation requirements
  • using kitchen knives and equipment such as grills, ovens, steamers and warmers in food preparation
  • managing the kitchen inventory and ensuring supplies are fresh and of high quality
  • ensuring proper food temperatures when cooking and proper storage afterward
  • keeping the workstation and kitchen equipment clean, organized and sanitized
  • taking charge of kitchen opening, closing and other side duties as directed by the Executive Chef
