Job Requirements

  • Three to five years proven experience as a cook or more than one year as a sous chef
  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods such as grilling, baking, boiling, equipment and procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents and colleagues
  • High school diploma or GED required, training from a culinary school preferred
  • Ability to speak, read and write English
  • Must be willing to undergo a routine background check

Job Duties

  • Work with the Executive Chef or Director of Dining Services to produce diversified menus in accordance with the community's policy and vision
  • Establish the work schedule and organize work in the kitchen so that all tasks are accomplished efficiently and with excellence
  • Produce high quality dishes that follow the established menu and standards
  • Train the kitchen staff to achieve the best for the nutrition and enjoyment of our residents
  • Prepare or assist in preparation of complete meals including soups, meats, gravies, vegetables, desserts, salads, baked goods in accordance with menus and recipes
  • Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages
