Job Requirements

  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum one year food service experience in a healthcare dietary setting
  • knowledge of quantity food preparation and portioned serving
  • ability to stand and walk continuously throughout the workday
  • ability to lift and carry 50 to 75 pounds
  • motor coordination and manual dexterity to prepare food and operate equipment
  • willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions
  • ability to communicate effectively with staff, residents, and family members
  • ability to follow recipe directions, diet orders and work assignments
  • willingness to work flexible hours including emergencies

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • high school graduate or equivalent education preferred
  • education in quantity cooking and therapeutic diets preferred
  • minimum one year food service experience in a health care dietary setting desired
  • general knowledge of quantity food preparation and portioned serving
  • Serve Safe Certified preferred

Job Duties

  • Coordinate food preparation and meal service
  • plan and initiate cooking schedule for food preparation to meet meal schedule
  • prepare, season, cook and serve for assigned meal
  • ensure appropriate portioned servings according to portion control standards
  • prepare nutritional snacks for patients as directed by the Dietary Manager
  • creatively collaborate with Dining Management on special events and menus
  • monitor temperature of hot and cold foods through food preparation and service to ensure that established temperature goals are met prior to steam table transfer and maintained throughout meal service
