Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3 to 5 years experience as Sous Chef or in similar role
  • culinary degree or certification preferred
  • strong leadership and organizational skills
  • knowledge of food safety and kitchen sanitation
  • ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • ability to multitask and work in fast-paced environment
  • computer skills including POS system and Microsoft Office
  • reliable transportation and valid driver’s license and insurance if personal vehicle is used
  • current Arizona Food Manager Certification
  • regular attendance and punctuality
  • ability to respond to fast-changing work demands
  • pass background check upon offer

Job Qualifications

  • Proven experience as Sous Chef or similar leadership role in high-volume kitchen for 3 to 5 years
  • culinary degree or equivalent certification preferred
  • strong leadership and team management skills with ability to train and mentor staff
  • excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
  • strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen safety, and sanitation
  • ability to work effectively under pressure and multitask
  • attention to detail and passion for creating memorable dining experiences
  • strong teamwork and collaboration skills
  • excellent communication including listening
  • flexible and adaptable to changes
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • computer literacy with POS system, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • experience using human resources/payroll databases preferred

Job Duties

  • Lead and manage daily kitchen operations ensuring timely task completion
  • supervise, train, and mentor kitchen staff maintaining high standards and efficiency
  • plan and organize kitchen workflow delegating tasks properly
  • ensure compliance with health and safety and food safety regulations
  • maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen equipment, surfaces, and storage
  • promptly address safety, sanitation, and equipment issues
  • oversee preparation and cooking of dishes to meet quality and consistency standards
  • ensure proper storage, handling, and labeling of food and ingredients
  • monitor food production and presentation serving dishes at correct temperature and aesthetic standards
  • manage preparation and delivery for banquets and events ensuring timely, fresh, and quality food service
  • collaborate with front-of-house staff for smooth communication
  • address customer concerns professionally and timely
  • manage kitchen personnel including cooks and assistants ensuring smooth operations
  • provide training and development opportunities improving skills and positivity
  • conduct performance reviews and give feedback
  • maintain kitchen inventory ensuring adequate stock levels
  • order supplies cost-effectively reducing waste
  • perform regular inventory checks and manage stock rotation to prevent spoilage
  • collaborate with Executive Chef on menu development ensuring creativity and seasonal offerings
  • ensure dishes meet quality standards of taste, presentation, and portion control
  • innovate recipes to match guest preferences and market trends
  • monitor food costs working within budget minimizing waste and controlling portions
  • work with management to establish and maintain kitchen budget guidelines
  • participate in monthly inventory and meetings as required
  • perform other assigned duties as needed
