Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Relevant culinary experience in a commercial kitchen environment
  • Ability to work flexible hours including afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 pounds
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols
  • Competence in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards
  • Ability to lead and supervise a team
  • Good communication skills
  • Commitment to following company policies and regulatory requirements

Job Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a sous chef or in a similar culinary leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations including OSHA, HACCP, and Health Department guidelines
  • Culinary degree or equivalent professional training preferred
  • Leadership skills with the ability to motivate, train, and develop kitchen staff
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with inventory management and food cost control
  • Ability to maintain high standards of food preparation and presentation
  • Competence in administrative tasks related to kitchen operations
  • Commitment to workplace safety, sanitation, and sustainability standards

Job Duties

  • Assist in the overall success of the food program by adhering to client culture and guidelines
  • Oversee daily kitchen operational tasks including recipe execution and production management
  • Maintain kitchen organization and cleanliness to provide a safe environment
  • Follow workplace safety, food safety, and HACCP guidelines daily
  • Motivate, train, develop, and direct kitchen staff to achieve operational objectives
  • Assist Executive Chef with administrative duties including attendance and human resources
  • Monitor and review HACCP logs and ensure internal audit compliance
  • Assemble ready-to-eat menu items according to recipes and presentation standards
  • Clean and sanitize work areas and equipment following regulatory rules
  • Support management team in monthly inventory and promptly report concerns
  • Attend daily meetings and report accidents and injuries in a timely manner
  • Ensure high-quality food preparation and presentation in alignment with Guckenheimer standards
  • Purchase ingredients according to purchasing standards and sustainability commitments
  • Manage display, catering, and café service to meet client standards
  • Train and supervise staff ensuring proper uniform standards
  • Participate in staff reviews, coaching, and disciplinary actions
  • Represent the company professionally in all customer and client interactions
  • Resolve customer complaints courteously and efficiently
  • Communicate with clients honestly and professionally
  • Review weekly participation and make recommendations affecting budget or service levels
  • Maintain food costs and labor within budgetary goals
  • Oversee café appearance and food presentation and edit daily signage for accuracy
  • Adhere to HSEQ policies and contribute to a safe work environment
